Shepard Fairey's Dark Wave Print On Sale Tomorrow

Another amazing graphic from Shepard Fairey - this time about the horrific disaster in the gulf. Fairey has recently released the Dark Wave in response to the spreading oil and will be donating a portion of the proceeds to NRDC. Looking at the poster gives me a dreadful feeling, like all the hope had been sucked out of me and at the same time is a bit reminiscent of Hokusai's Great Wave, one of my all time favorite works of art. They both speak to the power of the ocean, but Fairey's, obviously is a much darker and toxic version. Man affecting the ocean, rather than the ocean having its affect on us.

Fairey is selling two versions of the poster, one in cream and one in white, in a limited batch of 400 signed and numbered editions. The posters go on sale tomorrow - July 15th - get 'em while they're hot.

18 x 24″ Screen Print, Signed and Numbered Edition of 200
(200 for white, 200 for cream)
I will be donating a portion of the proceeds from this print to the NRDC… Natural Resources Defense Council. They are concerned with changing policy to achieve environmental and energy solutions, not just putting a band-aid on existing problems. Check them out at
