I have this dream about our new house that I'll tile a backslash or bathroom sink with the bottle caps from Izze sodas. Have you seen them? They are white with a cute silver flower on them. I also dream about tiling a shower with sea class, rocks, broken bits of pottery and china and anything else I can find that would work well. This idea for tiling a floor with pennies is right up my alley.
Sure it's probably a lot of work, but it looks amazing. And when it comes down to it, fairly cheap as far as flooring goes. You would need approximately 196 pennies per square foot (14 x 14 pennies), which costs you $1.96 per square foot. It doesn't get much better than that for flooring really and all you have to do is raid your change jar.
This penny tiled floor is at the entrance to The Standard Grill in The Standard Hotel New York.
